On Tuesday 18 June, the Victoria Tourism Industry Council held its 2024 Choose Tourism Careers Expo at Melbourne Showgrounds’ Victoria Pavilion.
The venue was an ideal space to showcase the many career pathways that exist in the tourism and events industry. This inaugural one-day event brought together key employers and training providers to promote the benefits of working in the sector.
Melbourne Showgrounds’ spacious and well-equipped facilities supported the event’s success, making it an excellent setting for connecting industry leaders with aspiring professionals.
Exhibitors & attendees
Opened by Senator Raff Ciccone and Tourism Minister the Hon. Steve Dimopoulos MP, the 2024 Choose Tourism Careers Expo featured 50 exhibitors and attracted over 750 attendees throughout the day. It provided a platform for interactions between potential employees and industry professionals, fostering networking opportunities and career development.
Venue
Melbourne Showgrounds’ premium event space, Victoria Pavilion, proved to be the ideal venue for the expo, offering ample room for exhibitors and attendees. The event included various activations and conversations, enhanced by the venue’s Audio Visual partner, Encore Event Technologies.

- Port Philip Room: Venue for the Emerging Tourism Leaders Summit (Conference).
- Rustlers & Royal Café: Used as conference breakout rooms.
Food & Beverage offerings
Melbourne Showgrounds’ food & beverage partner, Dean & McPherson provided refreshments and meals for the event’s exhibitors as well as conference catering and networking drinks. Barista-made coffee was provided by Melbourne Royal coffee partners, St Remio, offering a convenient option for those in need of a caffeine boost.
